What if your putter came with a certificate of authenticity and looked like it belonged in a luxury watch showroom?

That’s exactly what you get with the GG Putters Antares, a handcrafted boutique blade from Italy that turns heads before you even hit a putt.

But for the cost of around $350 we needed to find out — is this fancy blade just for collectors, or can it actually perform on the green?

Let’s get straight into it!

Key Takeaways

If you don't have the time to read the full article about the GG Putters Antares, here are the main things you should know:

  • Handcrafted in Italy, the Antares putter comes fully custom with a certificate of authenticity and boutique flair.
  • The adjustable weighting system lets you fine-tune how the face reacts at impact, which we haven’t seen on many other putters.
  • It has a unique “hard-soft” feel, delivering crisp feedback that stands out from traditional milled or insert putters.
  • The jumbo grip feels great in hand, offering solid control and stability on medium to long putts.
  • This isn’t your average flatstick — it's a statement piece that performs well and turns heads on the green.

Is The GG Putters Antares Putter Worth The Hype?

First Impressions – Fancy but Functional?

Unboxing the Antares was honestly an experience. It felt more like opening a luxury watch than a golf club.

Wrapped grip, machined body, detailed engraving and it smells like new sneakers. (Yes, we smelled it. Don't judge.)

We spec’d it with:

  • 3° face lie angle
  • Jumbo WINN grip
  • 35” shaft

Right away, the design stood out. Blacked out, aggressive, sharp. It even has movable weight tech. There's even one engraved weight you can place in different locations to change how the putter reacts through impact.

Feel & Performance – Hard-Soft? What Does That Even Mean?

We started rolling putts and right away realized this isn’t your average blade.

It has what we (somehow) described as a "hard-soft" feel. You’ve got to strike it clean to really unlock its potential. Mishits can feel firm and a bit unforgiving, but center strikes? Those feel clean and solid, with a nice audible "pop." It's a unique feel — not mushy like an insert, but not clicky either.

One thing we’ll say though: the sound might not be everyone’s favorite. A bit firm, a little hollow. We didn’t mind it, but some people like a softer “thud.”

Comparison – GG Antares vs LAB Golf DF3

We brought out our go-to gamer the LAB Golf DF3 for a head-to-head. Same specs, same distance, same players.

Short putts? The Antares was actually pretty great. It felt consistent and easy to control.

Medium putts? This is where the LAB Golf DF3 pulled ahead slightly. The DF3’s zero torque design made it easier to feel confident on longer strokes. But the Antares held its own — you just had to focus more on your tempo.

Long putts? The Antares was solid. Slightly heavier feel, good balance. We actually started liking it more as the distance grew.

Bogey Book Challenges – Lip Outs & Texas Wedges

We tested the Antares in a few of our favorite ways:

  • Closest to the Pin – Carl pulled off a nice one despite the wind.
  • Longest Lip-Out – Let’s just say we saw some nasty rim jobs from this putter.
  • Off-the-Fairway Challenge – The Antares surprised us with its Texas wedge game. Rolled pure from the cut.

We also tried it in random lies, and uneven greens, and honestly, it never felt out of place. It’s a putter that wants your attention, and if you give it, it delivers.

Pros & Cons

Before we wrap it up, here’s what stood out the most:

✅ Pros

  • Beautiful black-on-black design — sleek and confidence-inspiring
  • Draw bias setup makes it great for players who push or slice putts
  • Surprisingly forgiving for a milled boutique blade
  • Premium grip and shaft combo feels high-end

❌ Cons

  • Firmer feel won’t appeal to soft-insert lovers
  • Slightly short on distance on longer putts
  • $350+ price point puts it in the premium tier
  • Brand recognition is low, which might scare off traditionalists

Final Thoughts

Honestly, we were skeptical at first. GG Putters isn’t a household name yet. But the Antares delivered in ways we didn’t expect.

If you want a putter that stands out, feels solid, and lets you tinker with balance and weights — this might be your guy. You’re not just buying performance; you’re buying a story. Something you’ll want to show off in the bag.

We gave the Antares a combined score of 7.25/10. Solid. Interesting. Definitely worth trying.
