If you’ve ever stood over a 6-footer and had no clue what your wrists were doing, this review is definitely for you.

We got our hands on the HackMotion Wrist Sensor, this time diving into its relatively new putting mode. You’ve probably seen us talk about the full swing features before, but we were super curious:

Can this actually fix your putting stroke… or just make you rage quit? That's exactly what we are going to cover in this review right here.

Key Takeaways

If you're short on time (or just trying to get better before your next Saturday round), here’s what stood out from our HackMotion putting session:

  • Super detailed wrist angle data — almost too detailed for us mortals
  • New putting drill is no joke: it humbles you fast
  • Tracks flexion/extension and timing — both harder to fix than expected
  • Works great with most grips… except broomsticks
  • Legit tool if you’re serious about improving your stroke mechanics

But if you like watching reviews in video format, here is the full HackMotion Putting review on our YouTube Channel.

Is The HackMotion Putting Feature Worth The Hype?

First Impressions: Coach on Your Wrist?

You strap this thing on, fire up the app, and boom — it’s like having a coach whispering “your wrist is trash” after every stroke.

Carl went in as the guinea pig (a.k.a. average player), while Arvo wore the “pro hat” for the day. The first five putts? Mostly red indicators. Brutal.

But it showed us exactly what was going wrong — too extended, too fast, bad ratio. Stuff you never notice without slow-mo replays or a tech breakdown.

That New Putting Drill

This feature is where HackMotion really leans in. The flexion-extension drill gives you live feedback on every part of your putting stroke.

Carl struggled… hard. The system was calling him out like he owed it money, literally got 0 greens, kinda disappointing.

Meanwhile, Arvo stepped up, calibrated, and knocked out the majority of greens like it was nothing. Showoff.

If you’re the type who loves data, this thing’s heaven. For the rest of us? It takes a bit of patience but it does help, use our link to Get Your HackMotion Wrist Sensor for the best deal.

Closest to the Pin & Putter Challenges

We didn't just stand there nerding out on numbers. We also tested the sensor on Trackman with a good old Closest to the Pin challenge and even rolled putts across City Golf’s green to see if things were actually improving.

Verdict? Yes… kinda.

The HackMotion didn’t magically fix everything, but it helped highlight the patterns in our strokes. Carl, for example, was constantly too extended at impact and once he fixed that, the roll got a lot smoother.

A Quick Look at the Pro Data

Arvo took a peek at the Pro Mode for more advanced data — wrist angles, tempo, timing, and graphs tracking your full stroke.

It’s not beginner-friendly, but it’s super useful if you’re a coach or a low handicapper chasing perfection. You’ll see exactly where things go wrong. Nerdy? Yep. But powerful.

We Tried Some Weird Putting Styles

Of course, we had to mess around. We tried claw grip, left-hand-low, funky finger-over grips — even putted with a driver like a broomstick.

Shockingly, HackMotion handled almost all of them. As long as you’re not using a broomstick putter where the lead arm is parallel to the ground, the sensor keeps up. Big win for all you grip experimenters out there.

Pros & Cons

Before we wrap it up, here's how the HackMotion Putting Mode stacks up:

✅ Pros

  • Detailed feedback that’s hard to get anywhere else
  • Encourages better wrist mechanics
  • Great drill mode to dial in your motion
  • Works with most grip styles
  • Feels like real practice, not guesswork

❌ Cons

  • Doesn’t really support broomstick putters (yet)
  • Can feel overwhelming if you’re not into data
  • Requires patience and calibration — not a quick fix
  • Might humble you more than help you… at first

Bottom line: it’s a legit training tool — not a gimmick — but you’ve got to put in some reps.

Final Thoughts

Honestly? This thing is frustrating, humbling, and… kinda awesome.

It pointed out stuff we never even thought to check, like exactly how our wrists moved in the stroke.

Carl finally got a green after about 30 tries, but that’s kind of the point — this isn’t about short-term fixes. It’s about learning the feel of a good stroke.

Use code BOGEY for a discount and get practicing. And hey, maybe you’ll avoid looking like Carl next time.
