Join the Bogey Fam!

We finally got our hands on the Krank Formula Fire Pro and not just a stock setup, but a fully custom build dialed to our specs.

From loft to shaft to grip, we went all-in. Krank sent us these beasts, and we didn’t hold back.

We tested them against our gamers (like the Takomo Ignis D1), checked the ball speed hype, and even threw in a long drive showdown — including a no-tee DOD challenge.

So… does this thing actually crank? Or is it all smoke and no fire? Let’s find out!

Key Takeaways

If you don't have the time to read the full review about the Krank Formula Fire Pro Driver, here are the main things to note.

  • The Krank Fire Pro delivers on ball speed, with noticeably faster club and ball speeds right out of the gate.
  • It’s not easy to hit straight consistently, especially with the aggressive 7.5° loft we chose for testing.
  • This isn’t a casual player’s driver — it demands high swing speed, solid mechanics, and a bit of a learning curve.
  • Grip feel and forgiveness will vary by player, depending on your swing style and how comfortable you are with a firmer setup.
  • When you catch it flush, it’s a legit distance weapon, but it can be punishing if your strike is off.

Is the KRANK Formula Fire Pro Driver Worth the Hype?

First Impressions: Built to Blast

We’ll be honest the Krank Formula Fire Pro is a beast. It’s built like a cannon, looks aggressive, and smells like gunpowder (literally no joke).

Here is the setup that we chose:

  • Formula Fire Pro Tour 7.5° Head
  • FujiKura X Speeder Tour shaft (X-stiff)
  • Krank’s default Tour Wrap grip

Right off the bat, the club felt heavier than our main drivers — more head weight, more shaft stiffness. But the million-dollar question: does it live up to the marketing?

Krank claims their tech adjusts face thickness to match your swing speed for maximum energy transfer. That’s what we were here to test.

On the Range: Loud, Fast, and a Bit Wild

Let’s just say the Krank makes its presence known. The sound is explosive. Literally the loudest driver we’ve ever hit.

We started with some Trackman shots to get baseline data, club speed, ball speed, carry. And yes, the claims hold up. Club speed was higher than our Callaway Epic and Takomo Ignis D1, and ball speeds crept up too.

But almost every ball leaked right. Big slices. Even with a closed face and heavier grip, it took some serious work to straighten things out. And if you're not 100% confident with your swing path and face angle, this thing punishes.

Comparing with Our Main Drivers

We compared the Krank to two familiar setups:

  1. Takomo Ignis D1 – A fair, forgiving, and consistent gamer
  2. Callaway Epic Max LS – One of our usual go-to drivers

The Krank won on raw numbers — it had higher ball and club speed nearly every time. But in terms of shot shape and confidence? The Takomo Ignis D1 was way easier to control.

You can read our full Takomo Ignis D1 Driver Review if you want to see how that stacks up, but the Callaway gave us a better balance between speed and shape, with more consistent draws instead of big slices.

Sound Check & ASMR Vibes

We couldn’t resist throwing in a little mic’d up ASMR segment. The Krank pops louder than any driver we’ve tested.

If you love a powerful auditory experience, you’re gonna love this. But if you prefer a more muted, thuddy sound? Might not be for you.

To hear that piercing sound of the krank, enable the sound on the video below, we guarantee you'll love it.

Long Drive & DOD Challenge

To finish up testing, we hit a standard long drive competition… then followed it up with a “DOD” (driver-off-deck) showdown.

The Krank was a bit unpredictable off the tee, but when timed right, it hit over 290 yards. In DOD mode, it was surprisingly effective — one of our best shots of the day came during this segment.

Still, control was tricky throughout. Even when we connected, there were plenty of shots we wouldn’t want to see on a real course.

Pros & Cons

Before we wrap it all up, here’s a quick breakdown of the Krank Fire Pro:

✅ Pros

  • Built for pure distance — faster ball and club speeds across the board
  • Aggressive, head-turning design — looks as powerful as it swings
  • Great feel when struck well — clean, satisfying contact
  • Solid custom fitting options — full control over grip, shaft, loft

❌ Cons

  • Not very forgiving — slices and mishits can get wild fast
  • Grip feels slick during long sessions — sweaty hands beware
  • Heavier feel might not suit all swing types
  • Loud sound isn’t for everyone — no stealth bombs here

If you want a driver that demands your full focus and rewards it with speed and explosiveness, this might be the one.

Final Thoughts

The Krank Formula Fire Pro driver is exactly what it claims to be: a high-speed, high-performance club made for players chasing extra yards. But it’s not for the faint of heart.

If your swing isn’t dialed in, or if you’re not used to lower-lofted heads, it’s going to feel like a handful.

Compared to something like the Takomo Ignis D1, it’s a much harder club to manage, but with a much higher ceiling for distance.

At the end of the day, Krank isn’t for everyone, but for the right golfer, it could absolutely unlock something special.
