Key Takeaways

If you don't have the time to read the full article on the Takomo and Krank driver comparison, here are the main things you should know:

  • Takomo Ignis D1 is super forgiving, easy to hit, and looks amazing with its stealthy carbon finish.
  • Krank Fire Pro is loud, bold, and built for raw power — but demands fast swing speeds and precision.
  • Takomo is a better fit for most golfers looking for playable performance and solid value.
  • Krank is best suited for big hitters with dialed-in mechanics (or Bryson-level confidence).
  • Both drivers surprised us in different ways — consistency vs. explosiveness.

But if you prefer watching the comparison in video format, here is the full video on YouTube.

Krank vs Takomo Driver

First Impressions

Arvo was a part of Team Takomo today and rolled out with the Takomo Ignis D1 Driver, his setup was as follows:

  • 10.5° Degree Clubhead
  • HZRDUS RDX Red Smoke X-Stiff shaft
  • Lamkin Midsize Grip

First impressions? Well, it feels consistent, looks sleek, and gives off fairway-finder confidence.

Carl on the other hand represented Team Krank and came in with the Krank Formula Fire Pro driver with the following setup:

  • 6.5° Degree Formula Fire Pro Tour Clubhead
  • Motore X F3 X-Stiff Shaft
  • Classic Krank Star Grip

Right away he noticed that it’s heavy, it’s loud, and it asks for solid contact, but there’s serious power in this driver.

Driver vs. Driver: Side-by-Side Comparison

We each took three shots with our own driver, then swapped and hit the other guy’s club. The idea? Check for distance, forgiveness, feel, and control.

  • The Takomo delivered fairway after fairway. Flight was a bit higher and shorter than expected, but the feel was stable and confident.
  • The Krank was wild. When it connected, the numbers jumped, but mishits punished hard, and grip slippage became an issue for Carl.

“Takomo might not push 320 yards, but it’s definitely a consistency king.” To learn more about it check out our full Takomo Ignis D1 Driver Review

The Challenges

We didn’t stop at just range data. To test things under pressure, we ran:

  • A longest drive challenge (spoiler: Krank edged it out by a few yards),
  • A full hole playthrough using just the drivers and a couple other clubs.

The best part was watching Carl try to imitate Bryson's swing, and weirdly enough it worked surprisingly well.

The Krank showed its potential for high yardage, but Takomo had a more tight dispersion and easier control. Using a HackMotion Wrist Sensor will help control your Krank Driver.

Pros & Cons

Before we wrap things up, here’s what stood out from each club.

✅ Takomo Ignis D1 – Pros

  • Clean, stealthy design with carbon crown — looks amazing behind the ball
  • Incredibly forgiving, especially on off-center hits
  • Great for mid-to-high handicappers looking for consistency
  • Solid value for money at around $359

❌ Takomo Ignis D1 – Cons

  • Ball flight can get a little high, depending on your swing
  • Doesn’t come with midsize grip options out of the box
  • Not the longest driver out there if you’re chasing raw distance

✅ Krank Fire Pro – Pros

  • Tour-grade head design with massive power potential
  • Designed for low-spin bombs — ideal for fast swing speeds
  • Premium shaft and edgy looks
  • Capable of monster drives when struck well

❌ Krank Fire Pro – Cons

  • Grip feels slippery during longer sessions
  • Less forgiving — mishits lose both feel and distance
  • Heavier and harder to control for average players

Final Thoughts

So, what’s the verdict?

The Takomo Ignis D1 is an easy pick for golfers who want control, forgiveness, and style all at a fair price. It’s not built to break speed records, but it delivers where it matters most: fairways and feel.

On the other hand, the Krank Formula Fire Pro is a pure distance machine, but only if you’ve got the swing to match. It’s demanding, but for players who know how to handle it, it can absolutely bomb.

Want consistency and clean looks? Takomo’s your guy.
Chasing that 300+ yard drive and don’t mind a learning curve? Krank might be worth the shot.
